Aerial and Circus Classes

Kids /Youth Classes

Youth Tumbling/Acro 

Basic gymnastic tumbling is a foundational tool for clowning, acrobatics and aerial and sport acrobatics is a way to add interesting and striking visual elements to physical theatre and dance performances. These disciplines develop coordination, balance, control and strength. This class will focus on foundational tumbling skills like rolls, handstands, walk-overs and handsprings. Students will also work on the basic techniques of weight-sharing, basing and flying as they learn several basic acrobatic formations. No experience necessary. 

 

Youth Juggling & Equilibristic 

In this class students will learn to juggle various objects such as balls, rings, diabolo and more advanced props as they progress. They will practice balancing and object manipulation as well as balancing ON various apparatus such as slack line, handstand blocks, rolla bola and more. The class builds excellent hand-eye coordination, body control, balance and focus. No experience necessary

This foundational level class will teach several basic hangs, wraps and poses on the static trapeze and aerial silks. Students will also learn basic aerial vocabulary as well as build the strength needed to progress into other aerial classes. This class is a great fit for someone who wants to try out aerial arts. In addition to being incredibly fun, this type of training is great for building muscle tone, strength flexibility and confidence! No experience necessary. 

 

Kids Circus 1 & 2 / Youth Circus

An introduction to the world of circus. In this physically active class students receive training in juggling, tumbling, clowning, trapeze, aerial silks and more. The class will challenge them to develop body control, be creative and expressive and work together with a group to create fun and entertaining pieces. No experience necessary. 

 

Kid’s Aerial  1 & 2

This beginning/intermediate level class will teach several basic hangs, wraps and poses on the static trapeze and aerial silks. Students will also learn basic aerial vocabulary as well as build the strength needed to progress into other aerial classes. This class is a great fit for someone who wants to try out aerial arts. In addition to being incredibly fun, this type of training is great for building muscle tone, strength flexibility and confidence! No experience necessary. 

 

Homeschool Kid’s Aerial Combo

This introductory level class will teach several basic hangs, wraps and poses on the static trapeze and aerial silks. Students will also learn basic aerial vocabulary as well as build the strength needed to progress into other aerial classes. This class is a great fit for someone who wants to try out aerial arts. In addition to being incredibly fun, this type of training is great for building muscle tone, strength flexibility and confidence! No experience necessary. 


Youth Aerial Combo

This Intermediate level class will continue to learn hangs, wraps and poses on the static trapeze and aerial silks. Students will build strength and the stamina needed to perform longer sequences of choreography on the apparatus. Prerequisites: 

  • Completion of all Youth Intro to Aerial skills

  • Instructor permission 

  • Basic Climb halfway up and inchworm down with good form

  • Invert in straddle from the ground with fabric apart AND fabric together without help. (NO KNOT)

  • 10 second bent arm hang in hollow shape on Trapeze bar


 

Youth Silks 1

The possibilities are truly endless on this versatile and beautiful apparatus. This foundational class will teach basic climbs, descents, locks and poses. Students will start out working low to the ground and progress higher as they build strength and confidence. It takes time to build the strength and master the skills and students should expect to take Silks 1 several times before moving on to Silks 2. 

  • Prerequisites: 

  • Minimum 6 weeks of Intro to Aerial OR Aerial Fitness OR Aerial Combo OR private lessons 

  • Instructor permission 

  • Basic Climb halfway up and inchworm down with good form

  • Invert in straddle from the ground with fabric apart AND fabric together without help. (NO KNOT)

  • 10 second bent arm hang in hollow shape

 

Youth Silks 2

As the students increase their stamina and technique they will begin to do more challenging skills and work higher in the air. This level also ventures into the world of drops. There are many skills to master and students should expect to take Silks 2 several times before moving on to Silks 3. 

  • Prerequisites: 

  • Minimum 6 weeks of Silks 1 OR private lessons AND Instructor Permission

  • Mastery of most skills in Silks 1

  • Invert into straddle from the air with fabric apart and together without help. 

  • Solid leg lock (thigh hitch) sequence on both sides without verbal help (verbal explanation of this skill)

  • Hip Loc (aka Hip Key) in the air

  • Classic climb to the top and hand under hand descent 2 consecutive times without touching the ground

  • 3 consecutive bent arm hangs (10 seconds each) with good form

 

Youth Circus Arts 1

Teen/Adult Aerial Dance

Aerial dance is a beautiful art form that explores the space and relationship between the floor and the air. We will use the trapeze bar and aerial fabrics along with floor work to defy gravity and create beautiful movement. Movements are low to the ground and you can build your strength as you go. Great for those with dance training. No experience necessary.

Teen/Adult Silks 3 & 4

This intermediate class is moving into a new frontier of combinations, wraps and exciting drops. There is an emphasis on understanding the relationship of your body to the fabric and the wraps. Time and focus will be given to stamina and good form. With so much to cover, students should expect to take each Silks level several times before moving up. 

  • Minimum 6 weeks of Silks 2 OR private lessons 

  • Instructor permission

  • All prerequisites for Silks 2 

  • Mastery of most skills in Silks 2

  • Crossback straddle with good form (clear verbal explanation of this skill)

  • Superman Drop a with good form -no grabbing with feet in pullover (clear verbal explanation of this skill)

  • Hold 10 second bent arm hang, then invert with good form

 

Teen/Adult Silks 4 & 5

This class will move further into the exciting world of drops and dives. Students must have a strong foundation of technique and skills as well as be able to demonstrate an awareness of the techniques of the fabrics. An emphasis will be put on being able to understand and verbalize what is holding you up and why.

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum 6 weeks of Silks 3 OR private lessons

  • Instructor permission

  • All prerequisites for Silks 3 and mastery of most skills in Silks 3

  • 3 knee climbs, switching sides with good form (verbal explanation of this skill)

  • S wrap

  • Fan Kick to Hipkey in the air both sides with good form (verbal explanation of this skill)

  • 3 connected straddles with straight legs (not touching the ground in between)

  • 2 minute sequence in the air to show endurance

Teen/Adult Silks 6

This advanced class works on advanced wraps, drops, presentation and some partner work. There is an emphasis on how to get into skills from several different entrances. Time and focus will be given to stamina and good form. With so much to cover, students should expect to take each Silks level several times before moving up. 

  • Minimum 6 weeks of Silks 5 OR private lessons 

  • Instructor permission

  • All prerequisites for Silks 5 

  • Mastery of most skills in Silks 5

  • Clean wheel downs on both sides, meat-hook, belay from at least 3 different entries

  • Hold 10 second bent arm hang, then invert with good form

Teen/Adult Aerial Hoop 1 & 2

Aerial Hoop, or Lyra, is an enthralling, challenging and beautiful apparatus that offers a wide array of movement possibilities. You can spin, hang, dance, swing, flip and climb – inside, above and underneath this stunning orb. Experience this breathtaking hoop up close and personal. 

  • Prerequisites:

  • Completion of all Intro to Aerial Skills

  • Instructor permission 

  • Tuck Invert (with spot) into knee hang 

  • Invert in straddle from the ground 

  • 10 second bent arm hang in hollow shape

 

Teen/Adult Aerial Hoop 3 & 4

Aerial Hoop, or Lyra, is an enthralling, challenging and beautiful apparatus that offers a wide array of movement possibilities. You can spin, hang, dance, swing, flip and climb – inside, above and underneath this stunning orb. Experience this breathtaking hoop up close and personal. 

  • Prerequisites:

  • Completion of all Hoop 2 skills

  • Instructor permission 

  • Tuck Invert (with spot) into knee hang on top of the hoop

  • 10 second tuck hang inside hoop

  • Pullover with clean form

 

Homeschool Teen Aerial Combo

This foundational level class will teach several basic hangs, wraps and poses on the static trapeze and aerial silks. Students will also learn basic aerial vocabulary as well as build the strength needed to progress into other aerial classes. This class is a great fit for someone who wants to try out aerial arts. In addition to being incredibly fun, this type of training is great for building muscle tone, strength flexibility and confidence! 

 

Teen/Adult Trapeze 1&2

This class will teach basic hangs, wraps and poses on the static trapeze.  In addition to being incredibly fun, this type of training is great for building muscle tone, strength flexibility and confidence! Students should expect to take each Trapeze level multiple times before they are ready to move on to the next. The Instructors will challenge students by increasing the difficulty and varying the skills as well as working on mastering the skills.  

  • Prerequisites:

  • Minimum 6 weeks of Intro to Aerial OR Aerial Fitness OR private lessons 

  • Mastery of skills in Intro to Aerial class

  • Instructor permission 

  • Tuck Invert (with spot) into knee hang 

  • Invert in straddle from the ground 

  • 10 second bent arm hang in hollow shape

 

Teen/Adult Trapeze 3&4 

This class will teach Intermediate hangs, wraps and poses on the static trapeze.  In addition to being incredibly fun, this type of training is great for building muscle tone, strength flexibility and confidence! Students should expect to take each Trapeze level multiple times before they are ready to move on to the next. The Instructors will challenge students by increasing the difficulty and varying the skills as well as working on mastering the skills.  

  • Prerequisites:

  • Mastery of skills in Trapeze 2

  • Instructor permission 

  • Egg on ropes (10 sec) 

  • Pullover with good form


 

Adult Aerial Fitness & Strength

Ready to look forward to your workout or maybe you’re just ready to try something new and exciting? Our creative, high energy aerial fitness class is the perfect way to have fun as you are working out.  We will use the trapeze bar and fabrics along with some floor exercises and cardio stations to build strength, muscle tone and flexibility. Be prepared to work hard and have a great time. No experience necessary.
